2nd Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum

The 2nd Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum, will be held in Athens, Greece on 28-29 May 2013. The 2013 Posidonia Sea Tourism Forum will provide a unique platform to evaluate new investment opportunities and meet the leaders of this industry, as Greece, the East Mediterranean and the Black Sea will feature very strongly in the future development of Sea Tourism. Manolis Psarros, Managing Director of AbouTourism, is amongst the key note speakers at the session Black Sea Discovery: Exciting Cruise Destinations on the Black Sea, which is co-organised with the United Nations Development Programme, Black Sea Trade and Investment Promotion programme.

The conference will consist of specialized sessions on cruising, yachting and coastal shipping. Among the subjects to be addressed in the cruise sessions are industry development and growth strategies in the East Mediterranean, European cruise market growth and demand for the region, itinerary planning, new destination development, innovation in shore excursion programs, port privatization, cruise marketing & sales, new market development and future prospects for regional backyard markets. Yachting sessions will evaluate the potential of organizing top class yachting events in Greece, the adequacy of current international legislation (especially regarding crew welfare), the effects of ILO regulations on the yachting industry, Greece’s current failings (taxation, infrastructure, services, etc.) and necessary solutions to capitalize on its true potential, marina privatization and development prospects, and finally, future market targeting and long term market development. There will also be a special session on coastal shipping, mainly to examine the sector’s current serious difficulties in Greece, evaluate their effect on tourism and address urgent breakthrough solutions.
