BUILDING THE VISITOR ECONOMY IN ABERDEENSHIRE

We have built a comprehensive five-year strategy for tourism growth in Aberdeenshire, a region covering over 6,000 sq km of Northern Scotland. Based on a wide-ranging local consultation and global trends analysis, our strategy focuses on six sectors that will help grow the region’s visitor economy to £1 billion by 2023. We presented it to 200 professionals from the region’s tourism industry in March.

Our 20-page strategy summary launched on 20th March includes an evidence-based assessment of visitor demand, as well as the reasoning behind the new approach towards marketing and destination development. It includes comprehensive recommendations on these areas, as well as on the six priority sectors of focus for the region over the coming five years. These sectors include business events, cruise, golf, touring and the great outdoors.

VisitAberdeenshire commissioned the strategy and is now busily sharing it widely with government agencies and tourism suppliers across Aberdeenshire through a series of workshops. Together they will be responsible for putting the recommendations into action.
